Shopping!

I'm not a great shopper as a rule unless I am in one of two kinds of shops - a book shop or a plant nursery and yesterday we found the latter.

I'd been wanting to go for a while as I've been wanting plants for projects that I want to do. But I haven't been sure where to go and my car has broken down. Yesterday, however, I got to borrow my friend's car, I was given vague directions to Sungei Buloh and off we went.

Two hours later, we finally arrived after discarding the directions and going the way I thought it was. And it was brilliant. A whole row of them. I was like a cat in the catnip patch! And the prices were all very reasonable. We spent just over RM100 all up and got a very full boot-load.

Here's some highlights:

1. Pithecelobium dulce, Variegated Madras Thorn

2. Heliconia flower

3. Anthurium (Anthurium andraeanum)
Flamingo Flower

4. Aeschynanthus radicans ‘Crispa’ (A. lobbianus)

All of them

  1. What great finds! Everything is so lovely. I am hoping to get out sometime soon to a plant sale and gather me up some goodies.

  4. I really enjoy myself each time I shop for plants at Sg Buloh. They plants there are really cheap and healthy, much more so than those at home centres.

  6. Wishing you and family a joyous and blessed Easter, Nicola!
Yeah, you can get great bargains at Sg Buloh, truly value for money and spoilt for choices. John and I had previously love going there to shop for plants, usually spending almost a whole day to get our goodies and to admire others that are beyond our budget. But, nowadays, we just get our plants at garden centers around our neighbourhood since we've stopped buying bulk and just adding a pot or two at a time.

  7. Thank you Jacqueline. And all the blessings of Easter to you and your family too.
I went out there again on Sunday on the pretext that I needed to practice the route so I can find it easily whenever I want to go there. Hee hee. The girls didn't go with me this time, so I drove around a bit and found the road that goes off the main one with even more all the way along!! I can see how you can easily spend a day there. I had to drag myself away this time, but I'll be back!
